Volleyball: Oregon Looks To Slow Down Undefeated Trojans
The #1 USC Trojans come to Matt Knight to face the #25 Oregon Ducks on Sunday, Oct. 25th. The Trojans are the best team in the nation with a perfect 21-0 record and all 64 first place votes. They enter the game after dismantling the Beavers in Corvallis en route to a three set to one victory.
Senior Samantha Bricio leads the Trojans; Bricio leads the country in both service aces with 0.75 service aces per set and points. (6.20 pps) USC also has standout freshmen in Alyse Ford and Baylee Johnson. Both had career marks in the Trojans previous series against #10 Arizona St. and #14 Arizona.
USC is looking for revenge. Last season Oregon won both games against the Trojans. This was the first time The Ducks won both regular season matchups against the Trojans since 1986. It will be a new USC team who comes up to Eugene this Sunday, last year the Trojans were ranked 25th, but the new freshmen have improved the team considerably.
The last three USC teams to go at least 20-0 all ended up winning the national championship. This team could very well be on the same path.
Oregon enters this game following a loss to UCLA by a score of 3-1. A bright spot for Oregon comes from the play of senior Martenne Bettendorf who recorded 24 kills in the UCLA game. That is just one kill shy of her career high set against Utah earlier in the season.
The game will begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network.
