Ducks Last Exhibition Game Before Season Opener
The University of Oregon Men’s Basketball team defeated Northwest Christian this last Tuesday, November 3rd, 92-44. The Oregon men will now take on Southern Oregon in their last exhibition game before the season opener. This instate show down is set to start at 6pm on Sunday, November 8th at Mathew Night Arena.
Southern Oregon is coming off of a win against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University this past Friday, making their record 3-1. The Oregon Ducks have only played one game as a team compared to Southern Oregon’s already 4 game season.
This may only be the second game for the Oregon men as a whole but returner Dillon Brooks spent the summer playing for team Canada and is ready to show his growth. He came out ready to play against Northwest Christian and will look to do the same the rest of the season to fill some gaps in their line up due to injury and Joe Young’s departure.
Both teams will have old faces and new faces on their starting line up. Oregon Duck’s Freshman, Tyler Dorsey and former California Gatorade player of the year came out hungry against Northwest Christian. Out of the three freshman, who all saw playing time, Dorsey stood out. Coach Altman said Dorsey has “earned it” because “he’s worked hard in practice and he’s really talented.”
Kendall Small and Trevor Manuel, both 4 star recruits, will have to step up their freshman year as well to keep the Ducks a float until transfer Dylan Ennis returns from a foot injury and sophomore forward Jorden Bell fully recovers from foot surgery. Ennis and Bell are expected to make their return before Pac-12 play begins.
Until then, it will be a trial and error to see who from the returners and newcomers is going to work well together to bring the Ducks back to the NCAA tournament.
After Sundays match up against Southern Oregon, The Oregon Ducks will take on Jackson State on the infamous Friday the 13th. The season opener will be at Mathew Night Arena with expectation of a large crowd to go along with this high expectation season.
