Ducks' Women's Basketball Look to Outmatch Clemson
EUGENE, Ore.- The University of Oregon women’s basketball team defeated UC Santa Barbara this past Sunday, November 22nd, 79-51. The women hope to maintain their three game winning streak against Clemson this Tuesday, November 24th at Matthew Night Arena.
Senior forward Jillian Alleyne surpassed Bev Smith’s rebounding record when she made the all-time Duck’s leading rebounder list with 1,363 boards. Jillian Alleyne is also looking to hunt down Standford’s former forward Chiney Ogwumike’s PAC- 12 record of 1,567 boards. Alleyne was named one of 30 on the preseason Wooden Award watch list. She also had her 19th straight double-double against UC Santa Barbara.
Jillian Alleyne has the pleasure of playing with sophomore Lexi Bando. Bando was named to the all-Pac-12 freshman team by the media and all-Pac-12 feshman team by league coaches. Bando and fifth year transfer Kat Cooper will be a tremendous impact for the women’s offense. Cooper’s seven made three-pointers ranks second in the Pac-12 thus far.
This is the first time since the 2011-12 season that the Duck’s started a season 3-0. After Tuesday’s matchup against Clemson, the Ducks will face North Dakota on November 28th at Matthew Night Arena.
