A late night game for the Oregon Softball team did not affect the Ducks when they opened the first round of the NCAA Regionals with an 8-0 win over the Fordham Rams in only 5 innings at Jane Sanders Stadium.

Even though head coach Mike White decided to use freshman pitcher Megan Kleist for tonight’s game over Sheridan Hawkins it did not effect Oregon's momentum. The energy from the crowd at Jane Sanders helped boost Oregon’s to a quick start giving the Ducks a 2-0 lead in the first inning and it only continued from there.

Oregon offense dominated the game. Kleist delivered a strong performance while only allowing six hits, one strikeout, no walks, and no home runs for the Rams. The Rams defense was shaky. The Rams missed several catches and ground balls allowing Oregon to create opportunities. The Ducks answered back scoring eight home runs to end the game early in only 5 innings.

The Ducks will look to keep momentum going into the tournament as they take on the Baylor Bears Saturday at 2:00 pm at Jane Sanders Stadium.

Senior outfielder Koral Costa, freshman right hand pitcher Megan Kleist and head coach Mike White discuss their performance and strategies in moving forward in the tournament. Full press conference can be viewed in the video below.
